remember that movie "I Not Stupid"? (if you were my classmate in high school, most likely you know.)

meron na palang part 2 yun, entitled "I Not Stupid Too"... pero wala na si Terry... awww... yung two other guys na lang... haha... oh well, at least meron... i'm gonna attempt dloading it on the internet, but if all else fails, hihiram na lang shobe ko sa friend nya... wheeheehee... if you've never watched even the first one, then WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?!?! Go and download it!!! Now!!!

EDIT: Btw, the movie's from Singapore! All the more reason to watch it! :D

“Transformers”

A Review


Before I entered the cinema, I wasn’t too enthusiastic about watching a movie about giant robots. I mean, how juvenile could it get? I was hopeful about one thing though: the director Michael Bay. He’s the man behind such hits as “Armageddon” and “Pearl Harbor”, and I had a feeling that this movie might turn out to be one as well.

The movie began with an introduction that included a deep disembodied voice talking about something I didn’t understand. That was forgotten, though, when the actual storyline began.

It all begins when we meet Sam Witwicky, your typical everyday all-American teenager. He dreams of getting a proper car that won’t embarrass him in front of his dream girl, who happens to be a popular jock’s girlfriend. Things turn around for him though, when he ends up with a yellow Camaro (after a few fortunate yet strange circumstances) which turns out to be none other than Bumblebee, a member of the Autobots. The Autobots are a group of giant alien robots who have come to protect the Earth from the Decepticons, who plan to wipe out the entire human race with the Allspark, an ancient artifact which gives life to machines. Thankfully, Sam succeeds in gaining the trust of his crush Mikaela, and the two eventually work together to bring peace to the world for the entire duration of the film.

If things weren’t complicated enough, Sam turns out to be the grandchild of Archibald Witwicky, a famous 19th century explorer who first discovered the Decepticon leader Megatron embedded in the ice. Accidentally, Sam’s grandfather activated Megatron’s navigational system and ended up with a map leading to the Allspark imprinted on his glasses, the same pair of glasses that Sam is auctioning off on eBay. The Decepticons learn of the glasses, and start hunting for Sam, who, fortunately, has his trusty Camaro-turned-giant robot to protect him.

Finally, the movie ends with a massive ultimate good-vs-evil battle, in which the viewer may tend to have a hard time telling the robots apart, but the scene still offers a perfect punch of an end to a properly entertaining movie.

At first, the movie feels slow-paced, what with its smalltown setting and seemingly normal occurences, but things go haywire pretty quickly, and the audience feels satisfyingly (and not at all suddenly, since the plot doesn’t go too quick) thrown into a mass of hardcore battles and situations. Added to that are a lot of cheeky lighthearted humor, which really do gain laughs, and the superb special effects that add to its realism. In fact, about half the time I was watching the movie, I had my mouth open, evidently awed by the flawless detail that made me feel like it was actually happening.

The script impresses not because of its amazing capability of telling a story, but because of its simplicity. Its story of bravery and courage to fight for what he cares for is generic, but it works this time because of one thing: the title character Sam. Shia LaBeouf, the young everykid actor who plays him, has an endearing screen presence that makes him the loser-hero type of guy who everybody loves.

The movie succeeds in telling its story, despite certain moments where it confuses more than amuses, but all in all, with its mass appeal, grandiose visual and audio effects, and admittedly cute storyline, “Transformers” is sure to become a hit among the young and old alike.

Keeping busy

I haven't updated for a while I guess, but I've been keeping busy.

1. I finished Paper Mario! :D Feels awesome, because I'm not really the type to finish a game I've started. Now I'm really excited. Next choice... hm, maybe Paper Mario 2 or The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. Wheeeee...
2. I read Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants Book 2, which is The Second Summer of the Sisterhood. I loved it a lot. :) Made me cry. As did the first book.
3. I watched a lot of movies. First, Aquamarine. I loved it. Although it's a chick flick through and through, it taught a lot of lessons and it was funny. Great to watch if you're feeling down.
4. Movie#2: Cow Belles. Alyson Michalka and AJ Michalka! It was sorta great, you know, and I could pretty much relate because I have a sister and everything although I'm not rich. The guy, Jackson, was it? Cute. :) Kind of unrealistic, but hey, what do you expect? A documentary?
5. Movie#3: Phantom of the Opera. Okay, to be honest, I didn't like it too much. The one I watched was a VCD, therefore I did not understand a word. And my mother was talking on the phone VERY LOUDLY, so I was practically deaf. But I like the soundtrack. The phaaaaaaantom of the opera! :D
6. Movie#4: Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children. It was cool. Sephiroth. Haha. Didn't like him much, because he wasn't even a character, just some boss bad guy at the very end of it all. Cool, yes; substantial, no. Besides, Cloud isn't even good looking.
7. Movie#5: Never Been Kissed. Drew Barrymore. Honestly, it was nice. The plot however is unreal. Especially the last part? With the baseball field? Yeah. And I don't think high schools accept students with no surname? And they look too old to be in high school. I don't know. The guy was cute. But old. Ah, whatever. He's a teacher anyway.
8. 5 movies. That's pretty much it. But anyway, that's all. Um, wasted my time chatting and stuff too. :D

I'm back. Officially, that is.

Okay. After my so-called official break from blogging (in which I still made occasional posts, but take note, that theses posts are what you would call trivial and not real blog posts.), I have finally returned with some news.

First of all, I watched Pirates 2 yesterday! Ooohh... :) I love Jack Sparrow. Who wouldn't?

But I was rather disappointed by the movie, since all reviews proved true. It was too long and did not really make much sense. Another reason is that it is very bitin! To be fancy, we shall call it cliffhanging. Man, I wanna throttle Gore Verbinski.

But then again, that's Disney for you. Sigh.

Anyhow, the second reason is... the CSA exhibit. After one and a half day of work, the Stephenian Math Society's board is finished, ending with Charmaine (madame president [I love that name. Although it's kind of annoying. BUT ANYWAY] of the SMS) concluding... "I HATE WORK."

Bow.

Hm.

Anyway, I still enjoy being president, yada yada, and I think I did a good job today explaining the board. So! No harm done, hm?

THIRD AND FINAL POINT: I have found an ancient relic. *gasp* Well, it's not ancient, nor is it exactly a relic or what, but it IS valuable. Why? Because it is none other than an old notebook of an ex-crush! (or crush, but whatever. that's not the point.) yeah, yeah, you're thinking, "That's it?" but let me tell you. I wanna use it as a diary. MY diary. Why?

1. An ex-crush's old notebook? That is worth a ton of sentimental value. And besides, there's a certain girl's picture in that notebook. Hm, worth investigating, eh?
2. It still has lots of empty pages. Quite tempting for someone obsessed with paper. (Me.)
3. It has bits of funny stuff in it that can cheer me up anytime.

That's all I can think of now, but it's all true. So, what do you think? Do I return the notebook? (Since I still see him now and then, anyway) Or do I keep it? As my diary?

Am I pathetic or what?

I'm keeping it, you know. No way am I going to return the notebook and have him think that I've been digging through his stuff. Besides, I don't think he cares much about the notebook anymore.
