I am done with the take home Physics long test from Hell and am now ready to proceed to the blissful wonderland of SLEEP.

And I just proved my OC-ness... imagine, I encoded every equation/formula/solution. Pati mga freebody diagram dinrawing ko sa Fireworks... well. Baka sa kakatype at encode at graphics-making ko mali-mali mga sagot ko! Hay, oh well. My life's that way. When you need to make lemonade, I make mango juice and say, "Hey! It tastes better than lemonade!"

coincidence?

I just want to point out how strangely alike this pic is with my background pic.

i saw it on a friend's multiply page....

Big Mouth and Ugly Girl by Joyce Carol Oates

This book is amazing. It's so touching, and somehow, it strikes a nerve because we know that it could very well happen. I found the bookwhile searching in the library, and I was really glad that I unearthed this treasure from the bottom shelf.

It's about a guy who is just your everyday friendly, semi-popular, nice jokester guy, but when the joke turns on him, he finds that his friends are all big phonies (like Holden Caulfield!) and he finds a friend in the most unlikely person, Big Ursula, an insecure, unhappy girl who also happens to have "prinsipyo sa buhay".

So, well, they become friends through unlikely circumstances, sticking together through thick and thin, and in the end... well, I'm not going to spoil it for you! :D

If you're an Atenean, find it (well, not now, because, duh, I borrowed it) and read it! It's not even boring or disturbing, just nice. Parang children's book. I love children's books. They're so cute and innocent and makes the world a little brighter.

Thank you! I love you all! :D

NEW LAYOUT

math is woe

Wednesday, July 25, 2007

Sob... my math-deprived self wants to join the Freshmen Math Intersection Challenge... but since I'm not even taking up math, I can't! :(

I miss math. (Gosh, I'm such a nerd, but come on, imagine not having math for soooo long. BTW Physics is SO not math.)

the day I spent using Linux OS and freezing in CTC 101

Monday, July 23, 2007

I know this is going to sound really mean, but there's this girl running for JGSOM something in Partido Agila... and her name sounds a lot like a popular Koreanovela heroine...

ANYWAY I know the layout changes are kind of abrupt and everything... (it's actually the product of spending almost the entire day in CTC 101... more about that later) but I kind of like it this way now. So maybe sometime I'll go back to bright happy layouts, but as of now, I'm sticking to this... besides, isn't it relaxing to look at?

ANYWAY why was I in CTC 101 all day? Well okay... ganun yun...

  • 5:30 am - wake up
  • 6:00 am - Gilbert comes to my house and we walk to Masangkay cor. Soler together
  • 6:15 am - we get into Danica's car
  • 7:00 am - I'm in Ateneo
  • 7:05 am - I get a cup of Creamy Chocolate from the vendo in CTC
  • 7:30 am - I have a meeting with my English groupmates
  • 7:45 am - after assembling the members, we trek to Katipunan in search of corn vendors
  • 8:something am - we fail and end up somewhere along gate 3 and disover that rachelle has tripped and skinned her knee
  • some time later - we find one lone corn vendor below the overpass near kfc
  • blah - we interview her
  • blah blah - we eat at pancake house and also eat the corn there
  • 9:45 am - we go back to ateneo
  • 10:00 am - i hang out at CTC
  • 11:30 am - dapat may physics pero free cut kasi nasa brazil si sir. continue hanging out at CTC.
  • 1:00 pm - panicked half-run (since I never really run) from CTC to Kostka only to remember that my class starts at 1:30 not 1:00. go to caf to find rachelle and play a few rounds of Speed :D
  • 1:30 pm - go to English class
  • 1:31 pm - celebrate over free cut in Lit because Mr Cayanan is sick (and i'm mean for celebrating his getting sick)
  • 2:30 pm - return to katipunan with groupmates after telling Zach that mauuna na ako since may class pa cya (kasi dapat sabay kami uwi)
  • 3:00 pm - interview 2 more corn vendors
  • 3:30 pm - taking the LRT home
  • 4:15 pm - home sweet home!
That's all. Bow.

saturday

sabi ni Ana mag post daw ako about the other day. So, here.

Last Saturday, I met up with my BFFs Kathy, Abi, Ana and Ja. At first kami lang ni Ana then we went to Goldilocks to buy a surprise cake for Ja because her birthday is coming up (actually, matagal pa, but i am pretty sure that it will be a long long time before we meet again) so anyway we reserved the cake for her and planned to get it when we finally meet with Ja (since she has NSTP and won't be arriving till after lunch)

So then after finding Abi, I went to chorale, where Kathy caught up. Then afterwards the 4 of us plus Isen and Dianne K, went to McDo for lunch, where we had the Happy Sharing Meal! Yay!

Well, anyway, at about 1:30 pm Ja finally came. And the cake? Well, yeah, I kinda forgot all about the cake (which was, by the way, MY brainchild) so after we left McDo I remembered and invited everyone to my house (smart huh? because you know, Goldilocks is just right by my house.) So then we went. Then when we were in Goldilocks, just when the cake came, Ja and Dianne went out for Slurpee! Super timing tlga!!!! :))

anyway, we sent Isen to stall them, then the 4 of us took the cake upstairs tapos nag CR ako. I was expecting them to surprise Ja when she came up but then when I came out of the CR, nandyan na sila Ja and she still hadn't seen the cake!

So well, cge fine whatever. I proceeded to connect the GameCube then si Ja nagtour sa sarili nya and Miss Galawgaw i.e. Janine opened the cake box and then she began crying! Aw.... touched nmn cya... hehehe

yun lang. halata ba di ko masyadong feel? nasa ctc 101 ako and i'm also writing a story that i might be posting on fiction press. :D

vignettes from my atenean life

Thursday, July 19, 2007

(currently employing the style of such bloggers as Mondie, and someone else i can't remember)

I am NOT on drugs.
Next Wednesday is the AMC, that glorious contest in which I have a better chance of winning than say, MTG or MTAP. Don't ask me why. Maybe I'm destined for greatness in Australia... But anyway, you're probably wondering about the subtitle... well, thing is, next Wednesday, at the exact same time as the AMC, I have Physics lab. And also, next Wednesday, I have no other classes other than Physics lab (free cuts). So, I mean, isn't it perfectly good logic to request a free cut? So that people (not just me) in my class can get a day off without having to come to school early in the morning for 2 hours and just go back home? And besides, according to someone i can't remember (another someone this time) (I think it's Mr Maquiling, our brillant physics lecture teacher whose house was ransacked when he was away on vacation in Tanzania, and when Section K (my section in physics lecture) was suffering under the hand of the female sub we had (by the way, sabi ni mr physics lab teacher, "sexy" daw si evil female sub. see how un-teacher and role model-like he is?) it's perfectly reasonable for a free cut in lab, because there are too many sessions anyway... so at first I asked the brilliant physics lab teacher if we get a zero in the lab activity if we cut (he said yes... sob...) then later on, after a while, dahil di na ako mapakali, i asked for a free cut. do you know what he said in return???? "are you on drugs?"

Ok, first of all, even if i have outrageously large eyebags (which is most probably the reason i'm called a panda) i do not, i repeat, DO NOT take drugs. i mean, hello? where will i get them? (i dont think this is helping) ANYWAY the point is, teachers don't ask their students if they do drugs, i mean come on. i dont even know what drugs look like, and besides even if i did take drugs, hello? where would my common sense be if i told him, "why, yes, i do take drugs, thank you very much"??

because of that, i won't be able to join the AMC and all my hopes of getting a super high score so that the Australian Trust whatever will invite me to migrate to Australia (hey, i can dream, can't I?) will be shattered... and once again, NO I AM NOT ON DRUGS AND NEVER WILL BE. thank you.

well. that's all for that rant. next part...

The best block ever!
I know you all think (at least you college people) that your block is the best. Well, so do I. Why? Let me count the ways...

First of all, nobody in my block smokes. (at least, i think) in short, they're all pretty decent people, even if they have the tendency to become nerdy (unlike me, who has yet to be converted even after 2 months in college). they are all very nice and friendly... okay, this is so general... here's a specific example, so you guys can understand me better.

last week was one of my blockmates' birthday and he was really planning to do a get together thing in matteo ricci. some of my other blockmates were planning to go to katipunan for lunch since those lucky ducks get a free cut in their english and lit classes which is after lunch. so anyway, they still came to matteo ricci, even if they just popped up without staying long, but the thing is, i think they're pretty nice to have actually made time for one of our blockmates.

so there. i know it's kind of pointless. doesnt prove a thing. but well, it proved something to me. that i have the best block in the world. :D

Coo's busters!
If you have forgotten, Ms Coo is my history teacher who taught us all about that castration thing i posted the other day... she is cool and all that... sabi nya SASSY GIRL daw cya.... hehe, anyway, the thing is she might not be teaching next sem. so sad... you guys (at least those who are in Ateneo or those who are planning to be) wont get to become her student and for once have a fun history class.. well. that's okay, maybe when she comes back after some time, it's not too late! :D

BTW if you're wondering about the title, that's the name of my group, made up by one of my group mates... i have nice groupmates too, even if they're sophomores. I mean, I always thought sophomores were scary. You know, bullying and stuff Well, they aren't. Hahaha.

Celadon: Mid-autumn Gratia (and a bit of other stuff...)
The GA (General assembly. expect this abbreviation to appear a lot) was yesterday, and I (and Isen, too) joined the Food and Drink committee, headed by none other than Kimmy's brother Carl Chua. So I guess, technically he's my cousin, but he doesn't know that. hehe... :D

Anyway, this is actually more about Carl because I find him funny not because he jokes or anything but despite the obvious difference in physical appearance between him and Kim, they are actually quite the same... as in the first thing about him that resembled Kim is how he suddenly said "This sucks" (to himself, though it was rather loud) which is in fact a very Kim-like statement... if you know Kim, you can actually imagine him saying it.

Another factor was how he handled the meeting... it's almost like watching Kim himself. Very business-like with a bit of awkwarness thrown into it.

Now I feel guilty for observing him like a specimen or something.

It's always nice to meet new people.

By the way, Shari, my MTG and AJSS friend from Makati Hope is also in that committee... yay! So when Isen is not around I can at least talk to Shari... haha!

My favorite topic: food!
Atenean food is the best. It's true what Sir Tom says, baka tumaba ako sa kakakain... hay... nababankrupt na nga ako... and besides, my goal in ateneo is to try everything they offer here (food i mean)! (kala mo kung ano goal ko noh?) Eating, for me, is a tortuous art... here's a list of the food I have tried and liked so far...

Caf Down
  1. Hungarian Sausage Sandwich - House of Waffles - P35
  2. Shakes (any flavor, whether banana, mango, melon or avocado, which are the ones i have tried. di pa lahat yan.)- AMPC - P20 (small); P25 (large)
  3. Iced Coffee/Milo - that stall in the corner near the school supplies - (Coffee) P25 (small), P30 (large); (Milo) P20 (small); P25 (large)
  4. Juzijuiz (basta kung ano anong juice) - P15 (large) (walang small) (BTW pag sinabing large, it's about the size of a small gulaman at eat fresh)
  5. Hotdog Sandwich/basically any other sandwich - AMPC - P28 for the hotdog sandwich
  6. Pizza - El Bonitos - P25
  7. Pasta (Pesto and Italian Meat Sauce pa lang nattry ko) - Healthy Kitchen - P50
  8. Turon - AMPC - P12 (with langka bits!)
  9. Maruya - AMPC - P12 ata (basically parang pancake na may banana)
  10. Mint Iced Tea - Healthy Kitchen - P16 (lasang candy, but it's good and really refreshing)
  11. Mothball Tang - that stall in the corner near the school supplies, and also BENTO - P10 (wala na tlgang mothball yan)
THERE ARE SO MUCH MORE!!!! (But I can't remember all)

Word of the Day

Find the Word of the Day in this blog entry!

(brought to you by Dictionary.com)

tortuous \TOR-choo-us\, adjective:

1. Marked by repeated turns and bends; as, "a tortuous road up the mountain."
2. Not straightforward; devious; as, "his tortuous reasoning."
3. Highly involved or intricate; as, "tortuous legal procedures."

Tortuous is from Latin tortuosus, from tortus, "a twisting," from the past participle of torquere, "to twist."

(You might have noticed this word na kanina pa kasi sobrang halata na pinilit lang isingit... haha)

AND THAT IS THE END OF MY EXTREMELY LONG POST. ONE WEEK'S WORTH NA YAN!

ENJOY!~

an example of a crammed (because the deadline is tomorrow) reflection paper which is pointless because it strays from the main topic

Guide Questions:

  • What are the groups I am most comfortable being with?
  • What is my idea of a good group wihich I would like to be a part of?
  • What for me is the value of being in a group?
  • What can I contribute to the groups to which I belong?
Sometimes, I feel like one of the wallflowers, those people who keep silent and just try to blend into the background. I was never one of those extremely gregarious people who talk to everyone as if they had been friends for life. It takes quite some time for me to get to know others and feel comfortable around them.

In high school, I was always around people who I have known for years, and I never felt lonely or sad, because I can always find something to talk about. It felt like I belonged to a family who is willing to accept me for who I am. That, though, did not diminish my feeling of loneliness, especially during times when I am pushed to make new friends, and these times made me feel worthless and alone.

Before coming to Ateneo, I feared that I wouldn't fit in, and that I would stick out and feel alone. I was afraid that I wouldn't adapt to the crowd quick enough, and I would feel out of place in this new alien environment. When I came here, though, I wasn't so scared anymore, knowing that everyone is new and we will have as much time as we want to get to know each other. Knowing my block helped me a lot, because even though I do not know them so well, they are very nice people who unconsciously helped me fit in.

I knew then that I wasn't going to be a wallflower again in my life in Ateneo. The feeling I had, was not just satisfaction or happiness, it was a feeling of finding a family that welcomed me with open arms.

It felt like I belonged to a family who is willing to accept me for who I am, and it felt good. I knew that this was the kind of group I want to be with, one which wouldn't care if I wasn't pretty or popular enough, which would only care if I was in trouble, and would always be willing to help even if it means sacrifices on their part.

Before coming to Ateneo, I feared that I wouldn't fit in, and that I would stick out and feel alone. Being part of my block is important, because these are the people who I will be spending the rest of my Atenean life with. (Even if there are no blocks in junior and senior year, I know they'll be the people I would be hanging out with.) They are the people I can turn to in times of trouble, and even in times when I just feeling like talking. It's never good to keep all my problems inside, and with my block, I know that I can break free from loneliness and fit into this life easily.

I knew then that I wasn't going to be a wallflower again in my life in Ateneo. The feeling I had, was not just satisfaction or happiness, it was a feeling of finding a family that welcomed me with open arms.

Hey YOU!

Thursday, July 12, 2007

Yes, that's right. I'm talking to you. You, the person sitting in front of the computer screen reading these words I'm typing at breakneck speed (well, not really, but it is faster than usual for reasons I do not know. maybe physical fitness does that. finger muscles. :D)

If you haven't tagged EVER, you might want to do me a favor and do so, because, to quote Ely, it's kind of creepy not knowing who reads your blog. As in. There might be some crazed psycho killer reading this without me knowing (not that I'll ever find out if there was one) but it's a nice feeling to know that someone you know has been reading your blog which you have taken effort to type out regularly (okay, so i'm bluffing, i don't really do it regularly, but hey, there's still effort!)

By the way, if you're reading this on Multiply, you might want to check out my actual blog at http://pandalette.blogspot.com because things tend to not make sense there (as proved by one of my previous posts where I asked readers to look THERE <----- and all they could see were stripes. nice.)

Thank you and have a nice day!

It's the much awaited (or maybe not) review! :D (actually written for our english mini-publication)

“Transformers”

A Review

Before I entered the cinema, I wasn’t too enthusiastic about watching a movie about giant robots. I mean, how juvenile could it get? I was hopeful about one thing though: the director Michael Bay. He’s the man behind such hits as “Armageddon” and “Pearl Harbor”, and I had a feeling that this movie might turn out to be one as well.

The movie began with an introduction that included a deep disembodied voice talking about something I didn’t understand. That was forgotten, though, when the actual storyline began.

It all begins when we meet Sam Witwicky, your typical everyday all-American teenager. He dreams of getting a proper car that won’t embarrass him in front of his dream girl, who happens to be a popular jock’s girlfriend. Things turn around for him though, when he ends up with a yellow Camaro (after a few fortunate yet strange circumstances) which turns out to be none other than Bumblebee, a member of the Autobots. The Autobots are a group of giant alien robots who have come to protect the Earth from the Decepticons, who plan to wipe out the entire human race with the Allspark, an ancient artifact which gives life to machines. Thankfully, Sam succeeds in gaining the trust of his crush Mikaela, and the two eventually work together to bring peace to the world for the entire duration of the film.

If things weren’t complicated enough, Sam turns out to be the grandchild of Archibald Witwicky, a famous 19th century explorer who first discovered the Decepticon leader Megatron embedded in the ice. Accidentally, Sam’s grandfather activated Megatron’s navigational system and ended up with a map leading to the Allspark imprinted on his glasses, the same pair of glasses that Sam is auctioning off on eBay. The Decepticons learn of the glasses, and start hunting for Sam, who, fortunately, has his trusty Camaro-turned-giant robot to protect him.

Finally, the movie ends with a massive ultimate good-vs-evil battle, in which the viewer may tend to have a hard time telling the robots apart, but the scene still offers a perfect punch of an end to a properly entertaining movie.

At first, the movie feels slow-paced, what with its smalltown setting and seemingly normal occurences, but things go haywire pretty quickly, and the audience feels satisfyingly (and not at all suddenly, since the plot doesn’t go too quick) thrown into a mass of hardcore battles and situations. Added to that are a lot of cheeky lighthearted humor, which really do gain laughs, and the superb special effects that add to its realism. In fact, about half the time I was watching the movie, I had my mouth open, evidently awed by the flawless detail that made me feel like it was actually happening.

The script impresses not because of its amazing capability of telling a story, but because of its simplicity. Its story of bravery and courage to fight for what he cares for is generic, but it works this time because of one thing: the title character Sam. Shia LaBeouf, the young everykid actor who plays him, has an endearing screen presence that makes him the loser-hero type of guy who everybody loves.

The movie succeeds in telling its story, despite certain moments where it confuses more than amuses, but all in all, with its mass appeal, grandiose visual and audio effects, and admittedly cute storyline, “Transformers” is sure to become a hit among the young and old alike.

I've actually thought about this for quite a while, and now that I'm in college, I feel like it's time to start doing this plan I've been having.

Thing is, I want to write a story. Something like what I did with Rachelle (here) but this time, a real one, not a fanfic. And I guess, it has to be joint, or I'll never be finished with it.

So, to all you readers out there (kala mo ang dami eh, noh?) if you're interested, just give me a buzz! (not literally, but you can take it that way if you want.)

Thanks!

Yay! Nakacategorize na sila!!! :D (If you don't know what I'm talking about, then. Um. Look THERE.)

<----- THERE

Anyway, di ko pala nakwento in my earlier post. Kaninang lunch kumain kami sa Manang's (that caf near the covered courts) tapos I was with my new friends (Maybe it's about time I introduced them) and Isen (old boring Isen. Haha, joke lang ha!). Wala lang. Masarap pagkain dun... :)

Tapos that afternoon after our lit class (my last class), we (my english groupmates and me) took group pictures! Yay! It's for our mini-publication which is due this Wednesday... Ack!

Anyway after nun, dinala kami (me and Rachelle, my new friend from St. Jude) ni Samuel (my new friend from Hope) sa may Jesuit whatever... basta... we met up with Justin (Uy) and FX (my new friend from Zobel) then we (well, actually, they) tried to find the elusive LST cafeteria. Eventually nahanap nga namin (Rachelle and I even bought food... hehe), pero nalate naman kami sa departmental gathering ng AMA. :D

But it was fun though. Parang exploring... :D

Amazing. All of a sudden, there's this whole wave of people (sorry for the term) who are creating blogs... the question is, who will be next?

The latest two new bloggers are none other than Zach and Josef. Links over THERE

<------ THERE

went home late today kasi may departmental gathering sa AMA (ateneo management association). department ko pala finance. sa celadon (fil chi org) din finance ako eh. my reason? MUKHANG PERA AKO!!!

haha! joke lang, don't take me seriously, ok? medyo high ako ngaun kasi kaninang umaga nag jogging kami (with my new friends! YAY!)... habang umuulan!!! haha! papuntang mvp bookstore... it's fun in the bookstore, actually... kasi malamig. not just because of that though. there are lots of stuffed toys, tapos mga PAPER (I'm obsessed with paper. Any form of paper.) and PEN (same goes. di lang kasing obsessed.) so if you're in ateneo, tingin tingin kayo ha? :D

Dianne Krupasa tags as "dk"

Kaya ginaya ko, and so I'm "cc".

Remember a few posts ago, there was a video of an ad by Fahrenheit?

Or maybe naalala mo water bottle ko recently?

Yeah. That's right.

I don't know. I don't think I should be noticing irrelevant and completely pointless stuff like this.

If you didn't get all that, forget it. Pretend it's cubic centimeter or something.

I'm the most clueless person in the world.

May blog din pala si Dianne K. Jeez. I'm weird. Or maybe I'm just "manhid sa mundo".

Added to my list... :D It's GROWING! Yay! >:D<

It's time for Charmaine's quotes for the day!

(Or rather, YM stat messages for the day, but you get my drift.)

"Well," said Pooh, "what I like best -- " and then he had to stop and think. Because although Eating Honey was a very good thing to do, there was a moment just before you began to eat it which was better than when you were, but he didn't know what it was called.
-Abigail Go

Honestly, I love Winnie the Pooh. (I mean the books, not the cartoon, although the cartoon is also quite adorable, but really, nothing captures the magic of the books.)

Now here's something tagged by Josef here in my blog's tagboard.

"I wish my hair was emo so it will cut itself."

You're probably wondering why Winnie the Pooh and emo-ness appear in one post. Or maybe that's just me.

Just a short snippet...

Earlier in our history class, we discussed eunuchs.

And our teacher really discussed even the details... as in, she showed us a picture of a eunuch without his pants. I mean. Don't even try to imagine it. You might lose your lunch. Or breakfast, or dinner.

Then she also showed us pictures of the equipment used to cut off "Junior" (that was the term she used) and also this PLUG which was used to put into the hole after it's cut off... (If you're a guy, I'm sorry to traumatize you.)

She also mentioned something about crushing the testicles, with that thing used for crabs.

You could just imagine what the guys in the class were like...

Bwahahaha!

Replies

Well. That's cool. Only about 7 and a half hours ago nag online ako and ngayon pag balik ko ang daming nag tag... YAY!!! I'm so happy!!! And because I'm happy, mag rereply ako! :D

To Danica: OH NO!!! Ayokong umitim!!! I mean, I'm not scared of the sun, but honestly, can you imagine me dark-skinned? (Okay. Stop imagining me dark-skinned.)

To Josef: I don't really think that SSHS sucks, and I don't think the yearbook sucks either (just the admin handling the yearbook... oh man, i hope nobody reads this...) but I REALLY don't think The Transformers sucks... I think it was super cool, as in di ko naman gusto yung giant robots in general, nor do I like big explosions and the like, but I totally loved the movie. Even the humans... haha... minsan lang ako nagkakagusto sa movie ng ganito... I'll review it soon... :D

To DK (Donkey Kong. Hah! Joke lang.) : what list? the Links list? may blog ka ba???

MY MORNING

I'm currently in the RMT computer lab thingy (I don't know what it's called, but I'm pretty sure it's not Rizal Mini Theater) and this keyboard is kind of annoying because when I press the Shift key on the right it gets stuck so I have to go back and delete delete all the capital letters and retype and that is really quite tedious...

I have to go to history now, because it's all the way in Bellarmine. But before that, I just want to make kwento of what we did in P.E. and Filipino this morning.

During P.E., our activity of the day is 1 mile run. XP Nuff said.

(As I type this the people beside me are engaging in PDA. Um. Okay.)

In Filipino, we watched snippets of this movie called Dreams, by Akira Kurosawa, and it was so boring kasi most of the film is like really quiet, with this guy walking, or maybe there 's this procession and the film actually shows the entirety of the very very long and boring procession... I found myself falling asleep a lot, kasi nga I was tired from P.E. but even if it was very boring, it was okay, i guess. Very insightful...

Yun lang. That's what's up for today, Anabelle.

Tag please! >:D<

Just thought of sharing this with you guys. :D Enjoy! Sing along if you wish! Hehe...
